Image Library Search Help

You can search for images in the Image Library two different ways. You can enter text into the search field and perform a text search or you can select a specific location in the location list and search for images that match the specific location you selected.

Text Search

You can enter text in to the search field and perform a keyword search, a title search, or a location search.

1. Keyword Search

You can search for images in the Image Library by entering one or more words that describe the images you want to find.

For example, enter "ice" in the search field and select the "Keywords" option and press enter. This query will search the image database for all images that have the word "ice" as the keyword.

You can also enter several keywords to narrow your search results. For example, enter "ice" and "stream" into the search field and selecting the "Keywords" option will result in finding images that have both "ice" AND "stream" in their keyword description field.

2. Title Search

You can search for images in the Image Library by entering one or more words that are contained in the title of the images you want to find.

For example, enter "fog" in the search field and select the "Title" option and press enter. This query will search the image database for all images that have the word "fog" in the image title.

You can also enter several keywords to narrow your search results. For example, enter "fog" and "Boulder" into the search field and selecting the "Title" option will result in finding images that have both "fog" AND "Boulder" in their title.

3. Location Search

You can search for images in the Image Library by entering into the search field the geographical location where the photo was taken and then choosing the location option.

For example, enter "Utah" in the search field and select the "Location" option and press enter. This query will search the image database for all images that were taken anywhere in the state of Utah.

You can also enter several keywords to narrow your search results. For example, enter "Moab" and "Utah" into the search field and selecting the "Location" option will result in finding photos that were shot in Moab, Utah.

This is a more powerful search than the specific location search (see below) since you can enter a location in your search request that is more general than the locations listed in the specific location list. For example, you can enter "Colorado" in the the search field and select 'location'. This will result in finding all ofthe images that where taken in Colorado. On the other hand, the specific location search limits your search to the specific location, such as 'Boulder, Colorado'.

Specific Location Search

The location list contains a list of all of the geographical locations where the images were taken. You can choose a location in the list and perform a search that will find all images in the image library for that specific location. The locations in this list are generated from the image library database, so you are sure to find images for the items in this list.

Search Results

The search results contains the catalog id, title, description, and location of the images that matched your search criteria.

If the catalog id is underlined (a link to an image), that image is available online for you to view. Just click the catalog id and your browser will take you to the image.

If the image catalog id is not underlined, then the images is not available to view online. Please contact us if you would like to see an image that is not online.
